    INFO & EVENTS

The cuisine here is influenced by traditional flavors of East African cuisine, held together by the wonderful spongy bread, injera, that is essential to the experience. Some of the more popular menu items here at The Red Sea include: fragrantly spiced dishes of meat, lamb, chicken, lentils and other vegetables. The raw beef dish, kitfo, is remarkable!. You'll find that there a seated bar inside.

Samuel Tewelde was born in Eritrea, now an independent nation that shares its culinary traditions with Ethiopia. The Red Sea Restaurant is a family affair, and has begun to attract a buzz for its excellent food, the only one of its kind in New Orleans. From its humble origins on this barren part of Earhart, a genuine taste from the Horn of Africa is now winning over curious patrons with its wining combination of great cuisine and Tewelde's friendliness. >>more
